CPS Project Highlights

Project Highlights

In 1998, CPS, acting as the general contractor successfully completed a design/build project for the installation of a large stand-alone power station under contract to the Arizona Public Service Company (APS) at the US Army Proving Grounds, Yuma, AZ. The system consisted of a renewable power supply with 105kWp PV solar system, more than a megawatt-hour of VRLA batteries, and a 225 kW diesel generator. The project was design-build, and all phases of the work were supervised and or conducted by CPS personnel including design, procurement of equipment, building, installation and testing. All subsystems were built to National Electric Code (NEC), utility and military standards.

In 1998-2002, CPS completed a project involving engineering, facilitation, installation, testing, and on-site commissioning of communication shelters for a major fiber-optic telecommunications company. The project involved more than seventy (70) individual shelters and field sites located in five western states. CPS has an experienced crew of project managers, foreman, technicians, and installers who conduct this type of work.

In 2000, CPS conducted an installation and build-out of a Central Office fiber-optic facility in California. The project involved design, planning and installation of DC (9 strings of battery, 4500' of 750mcm cable, etc.) and AC power, all clocks and alarms, as well as fiber bays, DX equipment and customer CO-location cabinets. Turn-up, testing, and commissioning was also involved. Several smaller fiber optic switching centers were facilitated in Portland, and CPS installed, turned-up and tested Nortel OC-48 systems in Portland, Sacramento, Santa Clara, Salt Lake City, and Los Angeles.

In 2000, CPS set up an installation team for wireless radio installation into lightweight telecommunication shelters. The project involved installation of radio and power bays into over fifty shelters in a very time sensitive project for a major wireless telephone company.

In 2001 and 2002, CPS is working with Nortel and Verizon Wireless in decommissioning of over 500 cell sites and C/O switches in 3 major cities.

In 2001 and 2002, CPS conducted projects with Nortel and Verizon Wireless in decommissioning of over 700 cell sites and four C/O switches in 3 major cities.

In 2003 CPS crews installed 14 sites of DC power for Bechtel/Cingular in Florida for Wireless Solutions Group, followed by 24 sites of similar Bechtel/Cingular dc power for Patton Wireless Group.
